I found myself between two records, between two major projects — creatively stranded in a kind of no-man’s-land where nothing was expected and everything was allowed.
Over the past weeks I’d been listening obsessively to raw, underground techno, so I set myself a simple challenge: purely for my own enjoyment, I’d lock myself in for a weekend and create a three-track EP — solid, uncompromising, somewhere between techno and EBM.
Inspired by artists I kept returning to during that time — Thomas P. Heckmann, Schwefelgelb, Rhys Fulber, Daniel Myer — I simply got to work. No rules. Except one: I’d do everything myself. Writing, mixing, mastering — the whole thing.
That ‘one weekend’ turned into a full week of fine-tuning, but I’m happy with the result. Releasing these tracks under J Wølf, my techno and house alter ego, felt like the only logical choice.
I hope you’ll enjoy this little side dish — a small New Year’s gift, made purely out of instinct and love for the underground.
